commitment to excellence.
01 / My story

A competitor’s spirit.
A coach’s heart.
An advocate’s resolve.

Martial arts has been part of my life since I was three, learning from my parents, Jill and Bob Leiker.

Competition took me around the world. Coaching gave me a way to help others find their own potential. Law gave that same drive another purpose: standing beside people when they need an advocate.

Across each chapter, the through line is simple—show up prepared, keep growing, and put the work into something that matters.

02 / Where I put my energy

Three arenas.
The same commitment.

A life shaped by competition, teaching, and service to others.

I — THE ATHLETE

World champion.

33 professional world titles across forms, weapons, and point sparring. A competitive career built through years of practice and a return to the sport after spinal surgery.

03 / The defining chapters

Progress isn’t always
a straight line.

In 2005, spinal surgery put my future in martial arts in question. Two years of rehabilitation brought me back to competition—and changed the way I understood perseverance.

That experience remains part of the perspective I bring to coaching and advocacy.

2005 → 2007

The comeback

A nine-hour spinal fusion. Two years of rehabilitation. A return to competition.

2009 → 2013

A new arena

Graduated summa cum laude from Rockhurst University, then earned a law degree at UMKC.

2016

Passing it forward

Retired from open competition and shifted focus to developing the next generation of martial artists.

2024

Building with purpose

Joined James Stigall and Luke Whitworth to form SWL Injury Lawyers.
